EU aid to quake survivors
arrives in Syria

Two planes carrying aid from the EU to victims of this month's devastating earthquakes along the Turkish-Syrian border have arrived in Damascus. The assistance will go to earthquake survivors in both government-controlled and opposition-held areas.

The UN Secretary-General has welcomed the decision on Monday by the Syrian president
to open two further crossing points
on the Turkish border to allow
more aid into the stricken
northwest of the country.
